Being an early riser has its perks and when it comes to Black Friday travel deal shopping it can make a massive difference. Deals could go live at a moment's notice and often, the best values are snatched up quickly. Timing is crucial; beginning your hunt in the early morning can put you ahead of others queuing for the same deals. But how early should you actually start looking? While there’s no hard and fast rule here, starting your search at least a week or so before the actual Black Friday can be helpful. It not only allows you to familiarise yourself with the regular pricing on your desired routes or accommodations but also ensures you're all set when prices drop. Here, you'll learn why it's beneficial to start your Black Friday journey earlier, just like Jane, a mother of two planning for her annual family vacation:

• Jane starts shortlisting potential destinations weeks in advance.
• She dedicates time each day to research regular prices for flights, accommodation, and car rentals for her chosen locations.
• Jane makes a wish list for each platform she plans to book through, making purchases faster when deals go live.
• She documents current prices to compare with upcoming sales and ensure real discounts.
• Jane sets up price alerts on flight comparison websites to stay updated on price drops.
• Most importantly, she reminds herself of the exact dates and times sales are launching to be ready.

Not every deal you stumble upon this Black Friday will be worth the investment. In fact, it's quite the opposite – some deals can look tantalising on the surface but can end up unnecessary drains on your wallet. For instance, an incredibly cheap hotel room might seem appealing, but if it comes with high transportation costs because it's far from city attractions, it might not be such a good deal after all. Determining the real value of a deal means diving a little deeper and considering all associated costs. Beyond just the raw price, consider aspects like location convenience, travel dates flexibility, and any hidden charges. Here are some tips inspired by Sam's strategy. Sam is a frequent business traveler who opts to only invest in deals which truly add value:

• Sam considers the total travel cost instead of just looking at the individual deal's price.
• He reads reviews about the hotel or airline before making a booking.
• Sam scrutinizes all terms & conditions for any hidden costs or clauses.
• Instead of getting swayed by huge discounts, he examines what those discounts imply for the product or service quality.
• If a hotel deal is located far from his workplace or meeting point, he gives it a miss and prefers closer accommodations – even if they are a bit pricier.
• Sam also prefers deals with flexible cancellations/refund policies over non-refundable ones.

Comparison is key when seeking the best Black Friday travel deals. With numerous travel sites offering multiple deals, how do you determine which one is the best? If you act hastily and grab the first flashy deal that catches your eye, chances are high that you might miss out on better savings options elsewhere. Here, we advocate for patience. Take your time, compare offers from various sources, and ensure you're getting the most bang for your buck before finalizing your booking. Let's take a cue from Emily's book. She is a leisure traveler, planning a backpacking trip across Europe:

• Emily compares prices through comparison websites like Skyscanner or Kayak.
• She double-checks these prices directly on airline or hotel websites.
• Emily keeps an eye on package deals on different portals as sometimes, they can be better value.
• She checks the costs of booking each part independently against package deals to ensure it is indeed a bargain.
• Emily checks cashback websites like TopCashback or Quidco for additional savings before finalizing her booking.
• Lastly, Emily cross-references prices with different travel dates, as off-peak times could offer better discounts.

Unfortunately, Black Friday isn't just about great deals; it's also a prime time for online scams. You should be vigilant and take precautions when shopping for travel deals during this period. Only book through trusted platforms. Always cross-check information and reviews about travel companies beforehand. Here's how Anthony, an experienced solo traveler, ensures his safety while hunting for deals:

• Anthony only buys from reputable brands or sites he’s booked with in the past.
• He performs a background check if he comes across any new booking site.
• If a deal sounds too good to be true, he steers clear assuming it may be a scam.
• Anthony thoroughly reads the fine print before making any payment, looking out for hidden charges or conditions.
• He never gives away sensitive personal information unless it’s essential for the booking.
• Lastly, Anthony makes his purchases using secure connections only, avoiding public or unsecured Wi-Fi networks.

Black Friday is an excellent time to capitalize on rewards programs offered by airlines, hotels, and credit cards. These programs often provide members access to exclusive deals, early access to sales, and greater savings potential. Even if you aren’t a member already, consider joining – many of these programs offer bonus points for new members or for making certain purchases, which could be a substantial added benefit on this massive sales day. Let’s see how Clara, a lifestyle blogger and frequent flyer, uses reward programs to get more advantages:

• Clara continually checks her loyalty program apps/websites for exclusive Black Friday deal alerts.
• She often opts for deals where she can earn bonus loyalty points or miles.
• If two deals tie when it comes to performance, Clara goes for the one associated with her loyalty program to earn extra points.
• She even considers opening a travel rewards credit card that may offer significant sign-up bonuses around the Black Friday period.
• Clara also bookmarks all her preferred hotel chains or airlines to quickly explore their exclusive Black Friday offerings.
• Lastly, she also keeps an eye on her email because many brands send personal coupons or early access offers via mail.

When dealing with Black Friday sales, one has to stay alert, especially if you are hunting for travel deals. Setting up alerts on different platforms for significant price drops or when a specific flight hits your target price point can help you stay on top of things. You don't want to miss out on a potential deal because you were not alerted in time. Here's how David, who loves holidaying in exotic locations, stays always ready:

• David sets up price-drop notifications on his smartphone for chosen flights or hotels.
• He sets up Google Alerts with relevant keywords like 'Black Friday travel deals' or '[Airline] Black Friday sale.'
• David enables push notifications from his most frequently used travel booking apps.
• He regularly checks social media platforms as many companies hype their deals there before anywhere else.
• David keeps his payment information stored on trusted booking platforms for faster checkout when speed matters.
• Lastly, he familiarizes himself with respective website layouts to navigate quickly during high-demand periods.

When it comes to scoring the best Black Friday travel deals, flexibility is key. Being open to different travel dates or even locations can lead you to significant savings. The more rigid you are with your plans, the harder it might be to find a deal that matches. Here are some tips from Olivia, a flexible and spontaneous traveler:

• Olivia isn't fixated on specific dates; she's happy to travel whenever there's a great deal.
• She doesn't target only one destination–having multiple options means more chances of finding fantastic deals.
• If direct flights are expensive, Olivia considers trips with layovers.
• She looks at hotel deals in different areas of the city she plans to visit to consider all possible choices.
• Olivia checks for off-season prices; these are often cheaper and coincide with Black Friday sales.
• She prefers booking accommodations with free cancellation option – it provides room to change plans if another sale pops up.

Many travel retailers offer exclusive app-only promotions, which means checking out their mobile applications could score you a better deal than sticking exclusively to websites. If you don't already have these apps, consider downloading them before Black Friday. Not only do many offer sign-up bonuses, but they also allow for push notifications, enabling you to react promptly when new deals drop. Let’s learn from Lucy, a tech-savvy traveler love exploring both web and app deals:

• Lucy downloads the mobile apps of her favorite travel platforms in advance.
• She compares prices on both mobile app and website to secure best rates.
• Lucy opts for app-only deals which often serve additional discounts.
• She keeps push notifications enabled for instant updates about flash sales or time-limited offers.
• Lucy uses apps like Hopper, which predicts future flight prices, helping decision-making.
• Those apps are always logged in and saved with her payment details for faster checkout.

Believe it or not, some great deals come after Black Friday. You should also keep tabs on Cyber Monday, which immediately follows the weekend after Black Friday. Some companies save their biggest discounts for Cyber Monday, while others extend their Black Friday sales into a whole week of deals. Let’s follow Mark, who believes in extending his deal search beyond Black Friday:

• Mark doesn't depend only on Black Friday; he stays alert for Cyber Monday deals as well.
• He checks whether his desired deal is part of a bigger Cyber Week event before jumping to buy.
• If the product he wants is in high demand, Mark will purchase on Black Friday regardless of potential Cyber Monday savings to avoid missing out.
• He signs up for email alerts to stay informed about upcoming sales events.
• Mark browses websites offering news and forecasts for Cyber Monday deals to plan effectively.
• Lastly, he likes to explore New Year sales that many travel companies offer, just in case he missed out on something during Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
